Talisay
January 13, 2020
We distributed over 1000 kits to Venancio Trinidad Sr. Memorial School, a public elementary school, which was heavily affected by the Taal Volcano Eruption, due to its close proximity to the volcano.
Classes were disrupted for a month after the eruption and students of the school were forced to either integrate into schools farther from the region or sacrifice their education. The principal showed us a picture of part of a classroom that collapsed due to ashfall.
“How were you affected by the eruption?”
Translated from Tagalog:
"We went to our homes on the volcano and we prepared our things in case the volcano erupts more. We live In Zone 8, Talisay City, Batangas.”
“How were you affected by the eruption?”
Translated from Tagalog:
" I want to be a volcanologist now because I live near Taal Volcano and always wanted to learn more about it worked. The volcanic eruption made me want to understand how volcanoes erupt even more.”
“How will you use the kahon?”
Translated from Tagalog:
“We will use it because our school supplies are always lacking even before the volcanic eruption, and this eruption itself destroyed some of our supplies.”
